Today the Project on Student Debt released a new white paper based on an extensive review of U.S. student loan repayment policies. We found that many current provisions intended to help struggling borrowers fail to provide adequate protection from dangerously high repayment burdens. The paper describes the system’s strengths and weaknesses and identifies a range of practical reforms.

Testimony Before the Commission on the Future of Higher Education

Student debt was a recurring topic at a recent public hearing held by the Secretary of Education's Commission on the Future of Higher Education. The Project on Student Debt's Lauren Asher spoke about the need to increase grant aid for low income students, and make student loans safer and more affordable.
